Housing Assistance Program

To provide housing support to those affected by brain injury during times of acute financial distress, BIANK will provide up to $1000 to support expenses related to securing and maintaining a safe dwelling. 

 

To qualify for this program, an applicant must demonstrate the following: 

 

1. Proof of brain injury

2. Proof of residency in our service area

3. Proof of acute financial distress

4. Proof of expense 

5. If necessary, proof the cost is an essential housing cost

6. If necessary, proof the move to the new residence is essential

 

 

Applicants will be eligible for this program once ever-other year. Applicants are assessed based on the household income and not the income of the individual. Only those applicants who are able to demonstrate their household income falls below 160% of the Kentucky poverty line will be eligible for the full amount. Applications are approved by committee and applying does not guarantee approval. 

 

Types of costs that this program may cover: 

 

• Home repairs necessary to maintain safe dwelling such as roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical wiring, gas lines, and removal of toxic or harmful substances (ex: mold)

• Fees associated with securing a residence when a move has been deemed necessary, such as application/admin fees, first and last month's rent, closing costs. 

• One-time assistance with any recurring payments necessary to maintain residence such as mortgage, rent, HOA/fees (where required), and escrow/home owner’s insurance/property taxes. 

• One-time assistance with essential utilities required to maintain a safe dwelling such as electric, gas, water, and sanitation.
