The 2026 NKY Brain Injury Conference will bring all professionals under one roof to share their expertise and new ideas in the field of Brain Injury, along the theme of “Empowering Survivors:  Hope, Healing, and Innovation." This conference will offer a single-track agenda, focusing on issues related to neuroplasticity, urinary dysfunction, vision, post-concussion rehabilitation, neglect, early mobilization, and right hemisphere brain injury. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain new insight and resources and the chance to collaborate with networks from all over the NKY area. Join us to learn more about the needs of brain injury survivors and ways we can continue to support their long-term success!

Dr. Craig DiTommaso

MD

Dr. DiTommaso is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Brain Injury Medicine. Dr. DiTommaso performs rehabilitation management and consultations for patients with neurological diagnoses including traumatic brain injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, and/or spinal cord injury. He has a passion for rehabilitation of individuals with a disorder of consciousness. When not at work, he enjoys traveling with his wife. He is a father to two children: Isabella and Lorenzo. His medical career started at Tulane University in New Orleans. He completed his residency at the Baylor College of Medicine and completed a Brain Injury Medicine fellowship at University of Washington. Currently, Dr. DiTommaso is growing his rehabilitation practice in Houston and developing early career physicians. His areas of focus include practice growth, building continuity of care, and billing and coding. His research interests include prognosis after traumatic brain injury and spasticity treatments.

Dr. Elizabeth Levay

PT, DPT, Ph.D, Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist

Dr. Levay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgetown College in 2012, a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2017, and a PhD in Health Professions Education in 2022, both from Bellarmine University. She is a Board-Certified Pelvic and Women’s Health Clinical Specialist. Dr. Levay is a full-time faculty member at Bellarmine University, where she teaches a variety of courses related to musculoskeletal, research, and pelvic health content. Her research interests include pelvic health education and simulation, as well as understanding the impact of connective tissue disorders on complex pelvic presentations. Dr. Levay practices clinically at Athletico physical therapy specializing in treatment of pelvic floor and orthopedic diagnoses in people with hypermobility. She also serves as one of the co-Directors of the Male Health Special Interest Group for the Academy of Pelvic Health and is passionate about minimizing gender based equity gaps in pelvic floor care.

Dr. Erica Shelley

PT, DPT, Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist

Dr. Shelley earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from the University of Louisville in 2014 and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Bellarmine University in 2018. She is a Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist. Dr. Shelley practices full time at NeuroRestorative Louisville, specializing in treatment of adults with diagnoses of stroke and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Lauren Spencer Lewis

OD

Dr. Lauren Spencer Lewis is a behavior optometrist in Florence, KY. She completed Optometry school at the University of Alabama School of Optometry and also completed a Residency in Pediatrics, Binocular Vision, Vision Therapy, and Neuro-Rehab at Bowersox Vision Center in Louisville, KY. She now owns a private practice, Insight Eyecare, where she sees both children and adult patients. She started a Vision Therapy program at her office and enjoys helping patients improve their visual skills and improve their quality of life everyday.

Dr. Graham Garrison

MD

Dr. Garrison completed medical school and residency at the University of Cincinnati for his MD and Neurology residency. He completed a neurorehabilitation fellowship afterwards at Burke rehabilitation hospital in White Plains, New York. He has worked in general neurology and physical medicine and rehabilitation in the community and at the university of Cincinnati department of neurology and rehabilitation medicine, where he is an associate professor.

Jenni Schiebelhuth

MOTR/L, CBIS

Jenni Schiebelhuth graduated with her Master’s of Occupational Therapy in 2008 from Saint Louis University. She worked in Inpatient Rehab at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital’s Stroke Unit from 2008 2013 and then Gateway Rehabilitation from 2013-2024 where she was Lead Occupational Therapist and later transitioned to Director of Therapy Services. She has been a Certified Brain Injury Specialist since 2016. Jenni began working at St. Elizabeth Outpatient Therapy as a Neuro Outpatient Occupational Therapist in June of 2024. She specializes in Neuro-rehabilitation with an emphasis on working with individuals who have experienced a Stroke or Brain Injury.

Rachelle Janning

OTD, MS, OTR/L, CAPS, CBIS

Rachelle Janning, OTD, MS, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist with over 32 years of experience, including 29 years specializing in neurological rehabilitation. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Ohio State University and completed her clinical doctorate in occupational therapy, with a focus in neuroscience, at Thomas Jefferson University. Her clinical work has focused on individuals with brain injury across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient neurorehabilitation settings. She has practiced at leading institutions, including New England Rehabilitation Hospital, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Dodd Hall, and Kettering Health NeuroRehab and Balance Center. Dr. Janning is an Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program at Northern Kentucky University, where she teaches neuroscience and neurointerventional coursework. She is also the principal investigator of a clinical trial examining interventions to reduce spatial neglect, reflecting her commitment to advancing evidence-based brain injury rehabilitation.

Jenna Neikirk

MS, OTR/L

Jenna Neikirk, MS, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist practicing in acute care neurorehabilitation with a focus on severe acquired brain injury and disorders of consciousness following traumatic brain injury. She is a doctoral candidate with research interests centered on early rehabilitation interventions and patterns of occupational and physical therapy initiation and delivery in acute care settings. Her clinical work occurs within a large interdisciplinary trauma service, where she supports functional assessment, early mobilization, and engagement in rehabilitation for medically complex patients with neurological injury. Jenna’s scholarly interests include optimizing arousal and participation to support recovery in disorders of consciousness and improving evidence-based rehabilitation practices in acute care. She has presented her work at regional and national conferences focused on brain injury rehabilitation and interdisciplinary care.

Dr. Amu De Silva

PT, MS, DPT, PhD, NCS, GCS, CEEAA 

Amu De Silva, PT, MS, DPT, PhD, NCS, GCS, CEEAA is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Cincinnati, where she teaches neurologic physical therapy and motor control. She also practices as a neurologic physical therapist at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute.

As a clinician, educator, and researcher, Dr. De Silva is driven by a simple question: How do our actions shape what we experience—and how does that experience, in turn, influence the way we move, interact, and recover? Her work explores the dynamic relationship between perception, action, and the experience of control after neurologic injury, with the goal of translating research into practical strategies that improve patient care.
